Memory
Every crew member keeps a memory: a running report of what it did, what it found and what it learned. Memory is what makes a crew better at your project every week.
Three layers
| Layer | Lives | Holds |
|---|---|---|
| Thread | One conversation | The details of the current task |
| Personal | One model, all tasks | Its report: discoveries, patterns, lessons |
| Shared | The whole crew | Lessons promoted from personal memory |
The report
Each model writes short, dated entries tagged as onboarding, discovery, lesson or pattern. You can read, edit or delete any entry from the model's profile.
Sharing a lesson
When a model records a lesson, Lumen suggests who else should know. Accept, and the lesson moves to shared memory and appears in the reports of the chosen members.
Memory across models
Memory belongs to the crew member, not to the model behind it. If you switch a member from GPT to Claude, the report stays. The new model reads it on its first task.
Memory is stored locally in your workspace folder under .lumen/memory. It's sent to a model only as part of that model's own context.
