How Lumen works
Lumen has four building blocks: a workspace, a crew, the handoffs between crew members, and you. Once you know how they fit together, everything else in the app makes sense.
The big picture
You give a mission to the manager. The manager splits it into tasks and assigns each one to the model best suited for it. Specialists pass work to each other directly, and results flow back to the manager, who asks you only when a decision needs a human.
Workspace
A workspace is a set of folders that the whole crew shares. Every model sees the same files, the same Git history and the same threads, so nobody works from a stale copy. See Workspaces & folders.
Crew
A crew is a group of models with roles. One of them is the manager. The others are specialists: engineer, QA, research, localization, support or anything you define. See Crews & the manager.
Handoffs
A handoff is a message that moves work from one model to another together with the context it needs. Handoffs are what make a crew more than several chats side by side. See Handoffs & connections.
You
You set the mission, approve risky actions and step in when something is off. Models report back in plain language, and anything that touches production waits for your OK. See Review & approve.
